Richard Byrnes is an artist and qualified art teacher  currently teaching at Arts Workshop Willoughby and North Sydney Community Centre . Winning the N.S.W Travelling Art Scholarship was the catalyst for his passion for travel and he has visited over 60 countries in wanderings throughout Africa , South America , Asia and Europe. From Everest Base camp to Machu Picchu  Richard's sketchbooks record the richness of his observations.

With  Art and Adventure he combines these two passions to provide a truly unique experience capturing the visual delights of exotic destinations .

Richard has been awarded numerous art prizes and has completed several large scale public sculptures which can be seen in North Sydney, Marrickville and Macquarie University .His artworks are included in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia ,University of NSW,  Artbank , Macquarie University , numerous Regional Galleries and private collections in Australia , Britain and the United States.

Firmly convinced that the skills of drawing can be acquired painlessly ,Richard instructs in a way that is informative , engaging and laced with humour .

 

 Drawing focuses the mind and the eye -  it also anchors our memories to a particular place and time . When you return from travelling your sketchbook is filled with personalised images that record these unique experiences "
