The Art and Adventure Experience  

 

Art  and Adventure aims to maximise the travel experience through the practise of art .Our tours involve small groups of like-minded individuals  travelling in a low impact fashion using local transport .Each day ample time is set aside to draw ,paint and photograph these unique locations and every participant will receive instruction and encouragement to improve their art skills.In addition the delights of local food , history  and lifestyle are an integral part of our tours. You will return with a sketchbook filled with unique memories.

Is the Tour itinerary flexible ?

 

Yes . If , on any particular day , you wish to do activities other than designated in the itinerary , you are at liberty to do so.

 

What art materials / equipment should I bring ?

 

Thats a personal choice - but certainly a sketchbook  or  watercolour block    One for smaller quick  sketches and a larger one to transfer  work .A couple of bulldog clips will secure the pages against the wind. Certainly a supply of pencils , erasers , sharpeners and a paintbox and brushes..

 

What about visas ?

Depending on your nationality , many countries in South East Asia grant visas on arrival .Australians do not require a visa for Thailand and are granted a visa on arrival in Cambodia and Laos. A valid visa is required , in advance , for Vietnam. Participants on tour are required to ascertain visa requirements for their particular nationality..

 

What level of physical fitness is required ? 

An average level of physical fitness is sufficient .The booking form requires a Fit to Travel statement . Many developing countries do not have infrastructure or facilities to accommodate disabled travellers. We use local transport and so general mobilty and the ability to negotiate stairs  are required.

 

What kind of funds do I bring - cash , card or travellers cheques ?

ATM's are readily available in tourist areas of Cambodia , Laos and Vietnam but they will attract a transaction fee. It is advisable to carry small denominations of crisp new US dollars for visa's on arrival and for smaller purchases . Major retailers , many restaurants and hotels accept credit cards. Banks and Change Bureaus will change travellers cheques.

 

How do I book and make payments ? 

Once your booking form is received, Art and Adventure  will contact you to confirm your details. You will be sent an invoice by email for the $500pp deposit. The deposit needs to be paid within 5 days for your booking to be confirmed, with the final balance due 90 days before your departure.

Payments can be made by direct deposit (from any account including credit card) or cheque. When your deposit is paid you will be sent a receipt by email confirming this , 

 

 

 

 

 

Frequently Asked Questions

 

Is it safe to travel in Cambodia , Vietnam or Laos ?

Yes .  These countries have stable social structures and a low level of  crime . They are also frequented by tourists from all over the world . Local people are friendly and welcoming and our tours will only visit areas that are regarded as safe for tourists. 

 

My partner is not an artist . Is this tour suitable for them ?

Absolutely . The places we visit are fascinating in their own right .You don't need to paint or draw to enjoy them - there are a variety of other activities that non-artists can enjoy.

 

What standard of  hotels are used  ?

We use comfortable boutique hotels and avoid the anonymous chain hotels frequented by large tour groups . All of the hotels are specially selected for their high quality , comfort and convenience to amenities  Images of the actual hotels we use are featured below. What will the weather be like ?

These countries are near the equator and so are warm and humid all year round. By July tourist high season is over in Cambodia and Laos and so we can dodge the crowds and temperatures are still moderate. The rainy season is still months away so this is a perfect time to visit.  

 

What clothing / footwear should I take ?

Comfortable , durable  clothing and footwear. A broad brimmed hat is advisable.

 

What luggage is appropriate ?

We will not be walking any great distances with full luggage , but taking as little as possible is best . Certainly a small day pack which can hold a water bottle , sketchbook and art equipment.

 

Must I have travel insurance to join a tour  ?

 

Yes . Details of travel insurance must be provided with your booking.

 

What  level of artist do I need to be ?

Our tours are beneficial to artists of all levels - from  enthusiastic beginners to professionals. You will receive advice and suggestions as you require or be left alone if the muse takes you.
